when a note is played

when a note is played
the pause that follows
is no longer silence
M. O’Loughlin

we claim the pain began that day
the moment of the fall. but pain began
before it broke alone, enamored
with its armored stranglehold.

we claim the pain began that day
the moment yet to fall. but pain remains
into the pall ingrained, a pause
to rain a thrumming silent tone.

  2. When I was a kid living in Lexington I used to do gravestone rubbings in the old cemetaries around town. Thanks for the picture, and bringing back the memories.

  3. This is very beautiful, and reminds me again of how much knowledge can be learned visiting a cemetery, and discovered litle bits and pieces about people who have passed! Nice shot, thanks for sharing it.
